The house
Tauer Perfumes was founded in 2004 in Zurich (Switzerland) by Andy Tauer, a self-taught perfumer and chemist who became one of the central figures in the early 2000s artisan niche perfumery movement. Tauer composes, produces and distributes all fragrances himself, working from a small studio laboratory outside Zurich.
The house is known for a strong use of natural materials, particularly ambrette, rose, and Moroccan ingredients, and for technical compositions that often exceed industry standards for naturals content. L'Air du Désert Marocain (2005) became one of the most cited benchmark fragrances in artisan niche perfumery, frequently used as a reference for the woody amber Oriental direction.
On Osmetheca, Tauer Perfumes is represented by one fragrance: L'Air du Désert Marocain (2005), composed by Andy Tauer, a woody amber oriental built on a structure of labdanum, cedarwood and ambrette.
