Perfumes by Papillon Artisan Perfumes

The house

Papillon Artisan Perfumes was founded in 2014 in London (United Kingdom) by Liz Moores. Moores trained in natural perfumery and built the house around high naturals usage, small-batch production and a catalog inspired by historical and literary references. The house sits within the artisan British perfumery movement alongside Ormonde Jayne and other independent producers.

Distribution is through specialist niche retailers globally, with production volumes intentionally limited. Moores has spoken in interviews about the challenges of sourcing naturals at the quality level the house requires and about resistance to scaling. The house remains independently owned.

On Osmetheca, Papillon Artisan Perfumes is represented by one fragrance: Salomé (2014), composed by Liz Moores, a rose leather oriental that draws on the story of Salome and constructs a dark, animalic floral framework.
